Twitter: Promoted Trending Topic with Toy Story 3
Written on June 18, 2010 at 3:06 pm, by cct
I don’t think Toy Story 3 needed help to be a top trending topic on Twitter, but apparently it pays to insure that it is:
I had assumed an advertising model was going to run through eventually, but I hadn’t thought about promoted trending topics. Makes sense. I wonder if it costs more to also include #toystory3 hashtag as a bonus?

Shifts in Facebook: Commenting on Wall Posts
Written on May 1, 2009 at 10:51 pm, by cct

Facebook Shifting Borders?
The other day my friend Ian and I were having a facebook wall conversation and it wasn’t until he commented on my message on his wall that I realized you could comment on that as well (hey…there’s some things I don’t pay attention to
).
As my friend Bobby just did the same thing earlier (commenting on my wall post), I write this post being all kinds of divided. Is this the end of the wall-to-wall? It makes sense because then the conversation follows on your profile where it began and you can see the exchange of things. But then, I feel that you miss that element of two people on different profiles talking to each other.
Linkage: Gavin Newsom, Anti-Perez, and Free Streaming Video

Stories I’ve come across (mostly through awesome facebook friends I have) that I’ve liked:
- Gavin Newsom Uses Facebook, Twitter to Announce His Run for Governor [laist]
A politician I like using social media for announcements? Heck yeah! - Dear Perez: Miss California Gave The Right Answer For The Moment [huffingtonpost]
I stand by people having their own opinion, even if I don’t agree with it and hope that equality prevails over upbringing, but Perez (did I mention how I hate Perez Hilton?) was just not fair in his judgment and Mr. Charles Karel Bouley puts him in his place.
Inefficient: iTunes – Streaming?
Written on April 16, 2009 at 1:08 pm, by cct

iTunes 8 (from the apple.com website)
This post is off of a twitter exchange I had with greenlagirl (who runs that awesome greenlagirl website). While it’s inefficient (among other things) that iTunes currently doesn’t have streaming of its online content, a little research told me that it might not be this way for long. Engadget.com, off a CNET posting, noted in February 2009 that this might be the wave of the iTunes future. It makes sense after all that iTunes would adopt streaming (evenutally), what with netflix streaming and hulu.com‘s popularity. My friend Julius remarked that he had recently caught up on his tv shows (while in a sick stupor) and it had almost made him think to cancel his cable (before remembering that it didn’t carry some cable shows).
Article: All the News That’s Fit to Tweet (Downtown News)

I had an impromptu interview this week with Ryan Vaillancourt of Downtown News about Twitter. His article “All the News That’s Fit to Tweet” is now up, and a couple of my points about twitter were mentioned. Great article for those who want to learn more about twitter or wondering if they should sign up.
