Today’s church sermon was about being a good friend – a topic I think we’ve all given thought to as we form relationships and meet people over time. I know, at least, that I’ve struggled with what it means to be a good friend throughout the years and it has been on my mind lately. When I wrote my Digital Divide: Poems book throughout this past year, I thought much about friendships and the connections we make/maintain online – they became the topic of a number of poems. Like everything in life, there are both negatives and positives. You can’t have one without the other – and that’s okay. It is William Blake, after all, that tells us that “without contraries is no progression.”

Social Media Pick-Up Lines
I had fun with this after reading “Tweet here often? Pick-up lines for the technorati" on CNN. Here’s my geeky pick-up line contributions:
"Give me your Google+ name and I’ll put you in your own circle."
"If you and I become twitter friends, we could have our own hashtag."
"I’ll follow you…wherever you want me to."
“If the world was Twitter, all my tweets would be about you.”
“Friend me on Facebook, I have an awesome newsfeed.”
Girl: “Wow, you have a lot of friends on Facebook” (or “…followers on Twitter.”)
Guy: “…that’s what she said.” <wink>
OK Go: This Too Shall Pass (Embedded Video)
After reading the letter on Gizmodo from Damian of OK Go, I have decided to do a post where I embed this video. Major labels and corporations have this tenuous relationship with social media – clamoring for its attention while simultaneously doing crap-like things that dissuade the consumer from telling others what they like. Read the letter and learn about how you can’t embed YouTube videos. I’m a big fan of OK Go – one of the best concerts I’ve ever had in my life featured them. It was at a rinky-dink dive bar in Hollywood where they ran down to the floor and did a live recording. So here’s their latest song – This Too Shall Pass.
Shifts in Facebook: Commenting on Wall Posts

Facebook Shifting Borders?
The other day my friend Ian and I were having a facebook wall conversation and it wasn’t until he commented on my message on his wall that I realized you could comment on that as well (hey…there’s some things I don’t pay attention to
).
As my friend Bobby just did the same thing earlier (commenting on my wall post), I write this post being all kinds of divided. Is this the end of the wall-to-wall? It makes sense because then the conversation follows on your profile where it began and you can see the exchange of things. But then, I feel that you miss that element of two people on different profiles talking to each other.
Article: All the News That’s Fit to Tweet (Downtown News)
I had an impromptu interview this week with Ryan Vaillancourt of Downtown News about Twitter. His article “All the News That’s Fit to Tweet” is now up, and a couple of my points about twitter were mentioned. Great article for those who want to learn more about twitter or wondering if they should sign up.
