BarackObama.com’s Interactive Infographic

imageI received an email from Jim Messina of BarackObama.com telling me that

  1. They had passed the 1 million grassroots donors mark.
  2. 147,281 donors were from California.
  3. 43 donors were named Charity.

…like me!  But best of all, it sends me to a great interactive infographic.

A few good points for online e-government/political outreach:

  • User Personalization is pretty awesome when you want to make me feel specific in a group of a million.
  • Infographics are a fun way to break down information.  I love charts and GOOD.is Infographics anyone?

EyeGuide™ Makes Eye Tracking Affordable and Accessible (Video)

Grinbath EyeGuide(TM) LogoGrinbath, a developer of affordable usability and assistive technologies, just released a great overview video of their eye tracking product EyeGuide™.**  The product that released today is a complete suite including hardware, capture software, and analyze software.  Best of all, it’s under $1500.

Eye tracking technologies can be extremely expensive, making it inaccessible to those looking to broaden their understanding of user behavior and actions.  EyeGuide™’s under $1500 price tag (with additional discounts for multi-unit, education, government, and non-profit) creates a more feasible and affordable reality for everyone.  A few other bonuses:

Design Case Study: Amazon Drop-Down

Good job Amazon for this new design roll-out that highlights their key free offerings and their deals.  Definitely

  • considers the user
  • leverages interest in free content
  • shows Amazon’s positive offerings.
Additionally, it’s also not at all intrusive – disappearing the moment someone starts typing.

Efficient: Facebook Site Governance Vote

Screenshot - Facebook TOS Voting

Well…sort of efficient. When I tried voting the first couple of times I received all these error messages. In any case, if you haven’t heard voting has now begun for the new Terms of Service (TOS) on Facebook – revised version with an input of comments from users and experts or reverting back to the 9/08 version before the mass hysteria of libertarian-esque outcry (It’s the internet. We’re still the wild, wild west).

Go here to get to the vote.

Way more efficient than Mark Zuckerberg’s inefficient FB blog post.

Efficient: Facebook – Events and Lightboxes

I kind of hesitated writing “efficient” and “facebook” next to each other, but there are a few changes to facebook I have liked (and I’m kind tired of being a ‘negative nancy’ – where does that phrase come from? all the nancy’s i know aren’t negative – ’cause I’m generally pretty chipper).  The thing that striked me recently  that I liked was when I created an event listing.

Well…

When I finished creating an event.  The process of creating the event itself is quite annoying.  As I do work for an event-related website, I’m a big fan of “add event/create your event” buttons and links.  But wait this was supposed to be positive…
