Recipe: Korean Squash Soup

Written on February 2, 2011 at 11:06 pm, by

Squash SoupI was shopping at the Korean market and picked up some Korean Squash.  Although Los Angeles is definitely not experiencing the cold spell happening in the rest of the country, it was getting a tad chilly after I did my four-mile run.  So naturally, I thought to make Squash Soup…even though technically I had never made it before.  I took a basic recipe and built on it –

Ingredients

1 Korean Squash

1 Large Brown Potato

1/2 Teaspoon Instant Bouillon

1/2 Teaspoon Basil

1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Salt

Dash of Cayenne

Pepper to Taste

Publication: “Some Girl” (Poem)

Repost from charitytran.com:

Winter 2010 Cover - MusedThe Winter Solstice 2010 issue of Mused was just released today and with it is my poem Some Girl. Perhaps the closest I might get to a feminist-assertion of equality – or more so than that, meaning. I wrote this a long time ago and when I found it again, I liked the sentiment and submitted it. It’s easy to get lost in the crowd, labeled, judged. “Girl” and related adjectives could easily be subbed for “Guy” and guy-equivalent adjectives. Don’t we all want to be someone more than some thing?

Free Original Song: “Supposed to Be” by cc.tran

Supposed To Be (cc.tran) - Single Cover

Supposed To Be (cc.tran) - Single Cover

I was talking to friends the other day about just letting things be and enjoying life – which is often easier said than done. I think it’s funny and it’s sad how difficult it is to just…bask – to just enjoy what you have without letting thoughts of “what if’s” and “what next?” creep into the fold. Sure, those things are inevitable. You can’t stop the forward rush of time and tomorrow’s fast approach, but worrying about them does little good about enjoying what you have while you can.  There’s something to be said about that mix of excitement and peace – about believing for just a second that time can stand still and while it does, all is right in the world.

Bosley - From Earth Album Cover

Bosley - From Earth

Music from Bosley is the kind everyone needs on their ipod.  You know, that kind of music that has you dancing, the songs where the lyrics, beats, and hooks can’t help but stick – and luckily, Bosley is offering songs for free on ReverbNation.

All the songs are great, but here are the ones I love (notice how I mention almost all of them?).
