Marketing Moment: Free Water

Earlier today I was given a free water bottle by ALIVE Fellowship (433 S. Normandie Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90020). I’m not affiliated with the fellowship, but thought it was an interesting marketing idea. Labeled as a random act of kindness, it really is a method of marketing, but unlike free samples that want you to buy a product it really felt nicer. I’m sure they would want people to join their fellowship, but it’s the kind of marketing where it doesn’t matter if you do. The overall purpose is a positive expression, reflecting a “brand” and its mission to be foremost kind.
iPhone 4: Day 1

I finally bit the bullet and got myself an iPhone 4. It was kind of a big leap – I was upgrading from an o.g. iPhone. That’s right, the Edge network! But it was time to let go of Chaucer (my o.g. iPhone) and upgrade to Milton (my iPhone 4). Yes, I name my electronics…generally after literary figures or characters.
For Day 1, I managed to:
- Better navigate through my public transit-ness with Google Maps and GPS
- Contemplate planning a trip to San Diego
- Use/Test FaceTime with my friend Esteban
- Take photos (with both cameras!)
Changing Seasons, Changing Themes

I think the season switching from summer to fall (which for some reason required Los Angeles weather to decide to be warmer?) got into my bones. So I updated the theme of intellichick.com yesterday. The color splash is actually from this random photo that had a sunspot in it, a few Photoshop-esque layers later and voila!

Seattle: Mini-Redux in Breakfast

This past weekend I was visiting friends in Seattle (more about my trip later), but this morning was a little redux of that. I brought in Starbucks Pike Place Special Reserve coffee for the office and I had a leftover fair scone from the Puyallup Fair, making my nice little special breakfast this morning.

My Hair Does Not Curl: Blogger Prom Hair Test Run

My straight hair doesn't curl well, but the clip is pretty and my bangs are wavy?
…well it sort of did this weekend with a product I won’t endorse that I tested out at the Puyallup Fair. I’m not endorsing it because a) it was pretty expensive and b) the woman gave me dorky curls reminiscent of little Bonnie from Gone with the Wind.
That being said, doesn’t help a girl out much trying to look pretty for this year’s Blogger Prom theme, but I found a pretty clip today and attempted to use some curlers I had lying around. So if it turns out half this decent on Wednesday, I’ll be happy.
